A silly series showing what happens when your electricity and gas goes down.

‘Dumb Ways to Die’ has left quite the influence in the corporate world. Out of all of the ‘Make it look like Dumb Ways’ requests, I’ve enjoyed this one the most.

Jemena approached us to create a series of fun videos to show audiences how to handle energy outages. With a list of different ’emergencies’ that can cause outages, I chose 5 that would be the most entertaining to animate:

My focus on these animations was to nail personality and comedic timing in small ways, while keeping the focus on the ’emergency’, and less on the ‘character reactions’.

These are cute, bite-sized animations that have been used in their campaign over and over. Even the opening ‘skyscraper’ animation has found its way into other Jemena explainers.

Finally, this series was a spiritual follow-up to a ‘Dumb Ways to Die’-inspired animation years prior, also for Jemena. (It was an early-career project to show off my comedy chops in a corporate space):
